You read that headline right. You gotta see what happens when this guys tries to land a little 4 foot shark.
That is just amazing. Never thought you’d feel sorry for a shark whuh? Well it’s hard not to when he’s caught on the end of a fishing line and one of Florida’s famous Goliath Grouper comes after him over and over.
Goliath grouper are amazing fish, I saw one at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa (or was it Mote Marine aquarium in Sarasota FL?) that was as big as a volkswagon beetle!
Kayak fishing is the ultimate fishing experience in my opinion. At least some times it is, other times it can be a pain in the butt. One of the things that makes the difference is how far you have to paddle to get to the first spot, how far between spots and the most important , how far do you have to paddle on the way back when your all tired.
These guys have the ultimate kayak fishing spot right in their back yard for one month out of the year. when the kingfish come through their west coast Florida town, they are right there.
Check them out catching some nice kingfish. Sounds like two guys having a great day!
Personally I think this guy is obnoxious, but he is trying to be entertaining and even has a custom snook fishing song in the video. Maybe just a little bit too much of him in the video. You might want to turn down your speakers before clicking play on this one:
Here’s a video of a guy accidentally catching a monster snook on Sanibel beach FL.
How do you accidentally catch on of the hardest game fish to catch, on light tackle none the less? Simple. Step 1 -Get really lucky. Step 2- Have great reel skills. Evidently this guy is a shark fisherman who was trying to catch some bait for shark fishing later that night. All that practice playing big fish worked out well for him, as he exhausted that poor big female snook before he landed her.
It was a horrible release, it’s a little heart breaking to think that snook probably died a short while after release. This is made all the worse by the fact that he was trying to comply with the law that says you can’t keep snook during their mating season and that are larger than a certain size (the larger ones are breeding females).
We got some contacts from people that don’t believe it’s dangerous to swim around tarpon. My Father would say “Let God thin the herd…” but I’ll just show them this video:
Before you dismiss this as Oh it’s just a fish, look at the size of the fish, he’s bigger than a human and he swims faster. There are hundred of these sharks in the water looking to eat something shaped much like a human when it swims and they are used to eating things that are much faster at getting away. No if you still want to jump off oyur boat in Boca Grande pass during Tarpon season, go right ahead.
